2nd Annual Kitchener-Waterloo Walk for Israel a Success

2nd Annual Kitchener-Waterloo Walk for Israel a Success

The 2nd annual Kitchener-Waterloo Walk for Israel on Sunday June 9th brought together over 150 people from across the region. The walk, which was revived last year after a hiatus of more than 20 years, raised money to support youth-at-risk in Israel.

The 5km walk started at 11:30 A.M. and went full circle from Beth Jacob Synagogue (161 Stirling Ave.) through Victoria Park. A free lunch was served afterwards.

“Last year’s Walk for Israel- the first after more than 20 years- raised over $12,000 for youth in Israel and brought together over a hundred walkers.”  Said

Jeff Budd, Waterloo resident and main organizer of the event. “This year we built on its’ success by bringing even more people out and hopefully raising even more money!”

In 2012, this family oriented event raised $12,000 for Youth Futures in Kiryat Shmona - a program that empowers disadvantaged Israeli youth by providing them with an equal opportunity to develop their academic and social skills. Funds raised this year will continue to support this incredible program.

This event is supported in part by Jewish Federations of Canada – UIA, the Waterloo Region Jewish Community Council & local organizations and institutions.
