In 2012, after a hiatus of 25 years, the annual Walk for Israel returned to Kitchener-Waterloo, ON. In the past 3 years the Kitchener-Waterloo Walk for Israel has raised over $30,000 CAD for Youth Futures, a Jewish Agency for Israel program that supports Israeli youth-at-risk.
In 2014, at the 3rd annual Walk for Israel, Allison Josephs of www.jewinthecity.com joined the community for the event. Generous financial support was provided from sponsors, including Temple Shalom, Chabad Waterloo, Beth Jacob Synagogue and Jewish Federations of Canada – UIA.
“We are thrilled to bring the ‘Walk for Israel’ back to the community for the third consecutive year. It is an ideal way for people to raise money for a great cause while spending time with family and friends and enjoying a good walk on a spring day,” said Jeff Budd, event organizer. “We encourage people and organizations to get involved as participants, sponsors, walkers and/or donors.”
The 5 km route starts and finishes at Beth Jacob Synagogue at 161 Stirling Ave. South in Kitchener at and winds through Victoria Park.
