Annoucements at JFC-UIA's AGM:

  • Condolences were offered to the family of Gerry Halbert, z”l, a distinguished community leader in Toronto. His volunteer leadership roles included being the UJA Campaign Chair and various other prominent positions in both Jewish and non-Jewish organizations. Gerry was a member of the Order of Canada and a former President of the United Israel Appeal. May Gerry’s memory be for a blessing.
  • Condolences to the family of Donald Carr, z”l, longtime UIA Honorary Legal Counsel and community leader. May his memory be for a blessing.  
  • Condolences to former JFC-UIA CEO Steve Ain and family, on the loss of Steve’s wife Roseanne z”l. May Roseanne’s memory be for a blessing.
  • Condolences to the family of former senior national federation system professional leader Sheldon “Shelley” Maerov, z”l, who recently passed away.
  • Mazel tov to Bruce Leboff from Toronto, who succeeded Stephen Lowy as Chair of the World Board of Trustees of Keren Hayesod, effective November-2024.
  • Michael Cape, UIA Treasurer, is a recipient of the prestigious Yakir Award, Keren Hayesod’s most prestigious honour, recognizing his long-term dedication and contributions to the Jewish community of Montreal and to Canada’s Jewish community. Michael will be presented with the Award at a gala dinner at the KH Leadership Conference in November.
  • Mazel tov to Julia Reitman of Montreal, Past Chair of JFC-UIA, on being honoured as a Member of Order of Canada in October 2024.
