Canadian federations raise funds for French victims' families
Sheri Shefa, Staff Reporter, Thursday, January 15, 2015
Jewish Federations of Canada – UIA is joining a number of agencies worldwide to raise funds for the families of the victims of the kosher supermarket terror attack in Paris that left four Jewish men dead.
Donations to the France Emergency Fund will provide financial aid to the families of Yohan Cohen, 22; Yoav Hattab, 21; Philippe Braham, 45; and Francois-Michel Saada, 64, all of whom were murdered Jan. 9 during a hostage-taking incident at the Hyper Cacher in Paris.
Funds will also be directed towards a long-term fund to pay for heightened security measures at Jewish schools and synagogues in France.
Donations made by North American federations will be directed to the Conseil représentatif des institutions juives de France (CRIF), the umbrella group for the French Jewish community.
People can donate by visiting the Jewish Federations of Canada's France Emergency Fund website (https://uiacanada.secure-fedwebca.jewishfederations.org/page/contribute/france) or by emailing Daniel Stern, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
