Norma Gilbert


Norma Gilbert is the Coordinator of the Health Promotion and Prevention in Aging team of the CIUSSS Cavendish. She has a degree in Psychology from Concordia University and a Graduate Certificate in the Interdisciplinary Field of Aging from McGill University and is presently working on her PhD in Applied Human Sciences at the Université de Montréal.

 

She is also a member of the CREGES research team as a practitioner/researcher. Working in close collaboration with seniors community groups, she develops programs for practitioners and offers training to professionals.

 

She has many years of experience in counselling and offering support groups to caregivers.  In 2013 -2014 she led an intersectorial team in a research project that looked at the needs of older male caregivers that was subsequently developed into training sessions for public and community practitioners. 

 

As well, she offers health promotion presentations in the community and workshops on stress management and memory to older people. She also supervises a team of older volunteers who offer the health promotion programs developed by the team in the community.
