A Message from Aharon Valency
Panhandle Galilee Chair

Dear Friends,

I would like to tell you a little about what the Partnership 2000 program means to Israelis living in the north. The bond between the municipalities in Israel`s Galilee Panhandle and the Canadian Coast communities has been in existence for many years, and with every mifgash, the connection only gets stronger.

What started as working relationships, have transformed into unique friendships between jews on both sides of the Atlantic. Despite the many differences between our communities, we have come to appreciate that it is the similarities that carry the most weight; pride in our shared heritage and culture, value for the education and safety of the next generation, and an overwhelming sense of responsibility toward the future of our people and the State of Israel.

Both personally, and in my capacity as mayor, I have witnessed the genuine concern that Canadians have for our well-being. The phone calls, the e - mails, the tremendous assistance remind us that no matter what happens, our Canadian friends stand with and for us, regardless of distance.

This is the essence of P2K; unity, family and the knowing that none of us is ever alone. I would like to thank you all for this piece of mind and your unwavering dedication.

Although the physical distance between us is great, you are very close in our hearts.

Aharon Valency
Mayor,
Upper Galilee Regional Council
